Higher salaries on offer as businesses struggle to recruit

Job market data from CV-library revealed that advertised salaries reached a 12-month high in November.

The research, which compared data from November 2018 with the same period in 2017, revealed some impressive hikes in advertised salaries. In Liverpool, salaries were found to have increased by 11.9 per cent, while Glasgow, Southampton and Aberdeen all saw increases of 10 per cent or more.

The lowest increases were found in London (2.7 per cent), Brighton (2.1 per cent) and Leeds (1.8 per cent).

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, commented: “This staggering increase in salaries is a direct result of the ongoing struggles facing UK businesses. As companies continue to try and hire talented new recruits, it’s clear from the data that they’re pulling out all the stops, offering competitive salaries in a bid to secure the top talent.”

Along with higher advertised salaries, the research also revealed that the number of jobs being advertised increased by 8.7 per cent, when comparing year-on-year data.
